The Home Depot and AARP are teaming up to offer free workshops to teach older homeowners about improvements ⬠from simple enhancements to full-scale overhauls that can help them live independently for years to come.

Remodeling Becomes Tool for Aging Americans To Stay Put and Stay Independent

The Home Depot and AARP are teaming up to offer free workshops to teach older homeowners about improvements ⬠from simple enhancements to full-scale overhauls that can help them live independently for years to come.

The nationwide workshops focus on accessibility, independence and safety in the home. For example, a customer having difficulty stepping over the edge of the tub to take a shower decided to take the tub out and install a standing shower. Advocates of the elderly population say making simple changes now, before you are forced to, can make the road ahead easier.

From kitchen and bath updates such as adjustable countertops or lever handles to simple lighting enhancements, the Workshops aim to educate older consumers on how to create a comfortable and functional home environment as they age.
