Williams-Sonoma Home Takes Williams-Sonoma Beyond the Kitchen and Into the Rest of the Home
August 2004 (Newstream) -- Williams-Sonoma, Inc. (NYSE: WSM) on August 12 announced the launch of Williams-Sonoma Homeā¢. Williams-Sonoma Home will be the first brand in the Williams-SonomaĀ® family to focus exclusively on the premium level of the home furnishings market. It will offer a lifestyle brand that is classic with European-inspired casual elegance. Williams-Sonoma Home follows the example of its namesake brand, providing the best in design and craftsmanship from around the world. The new brand will be centered on beautifully crafted dining and living room furniture, accessories for entertaining, lighting, tableware, bedding and bath linens. Williams-Sonoma Home will launch fall of 2004 with the delivery of the first catalog the week of September 13, 2004.
Williams-Sonoma Home believes its commitment to the customer experience is unique to the industry. Exemplified by an exceptional time of delivery for custom furniture, Williams-Sonoma Home expects to deliver custom upholstery in 45 days from time of order. The fragmented and specialized nature of the custom furnishings industry traditionally does not allow for standardized levels of customer service and expectations. By owning the process from design to delivery, Williams-Sonoma Home plans to define a standard level of service that consumers of fine custom furnishings have not consistently enjoyed, at a price level that is attainable to a broad group of consumers.
Williams-Sonoma Home aims to tap into the underserved market for consumers of traditional custom home furnishings and at the same time appeal to a growing group of customers who aspire to the designer level. The catalog launch is expected to be followed by an e-commerce site (www.wshome.com) scheduled for the spring of 2005. Current plans are in development to open Williams-Sonoma Home retail stores in key markets.
